Never too late to career change
Meet Nottingham-based interior designer, Daniel Stasac. Daniel studied the National Design Academy Diploma in Professional Interior Design. Since finishing his Diploma, he’s decided to continue his education with the National Design Academy by pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design.
Read on to find out about Daniel’s style, where he draws inspiration from, and what projects he is most proud of completing in his interior design career.
What made you want to get into Interior Design?
I’ve always had a passion for art and interior design, and now I can finally build an amazing career. I’m 32 years old. It’s never too late to change careers.
Who is your biggest design inspiration?
I draw my inspiration from the real world. Or, I will go online to different web applications, like Dribble, Behance, and other social media apps.
How would you describe your style in 3 words?
I think my style is a mix between minimalist and contemporary.
What was your favourite unit/module of the course?
I had two favourite units: Unit 04 and Unit 05. In these two units, we learned about technical drawings and how to source furniture and accessories.
How did you find studying with the National Design Academy?
I found the course to be very good if you want to kick-start your career in interior design. The VLS is easy to use and navigate around, which is helpful when studying fully remote.
How did you find the communication/support?
My tutor was able to offer me support and feedback for each unit that I completed. The Virtual Learning Studio was a massive help for maintaining the communication between us.
You've now finished your Diploma, what are you doing next?
I’m continuing my studies with the National Design Academy, so I can shape my future for a better one.Â
Which projects are you most proud of? Can you describe them?
Bathroom Design
I’m very proud of my latest project: A bathroom design for a client in Lincolnshire. The idea of turning a small space into something high-end and contemporary with integrated smart features; it was an amazing challenge.
Kitchen Re-Design
The second project that I’m proud of is the kitchen re-design for a client in Ipswich. The challenge was to revamp the entire kitchen, and to design a unit that can host a 55 x 55 cm built-in oven, with a new separate hob and extractor hood.
Larson Family Project
The third must be my first ever project that I finished. It was the Larson family project that I worked on during the Diploma course.
Anything else you would like to share?
It’s never too late to change careers and we should never be afraid of trying.Â
