Congratulations to Rosemary Thompson from Bedfordshire who is studying for a Diploma in Professional Curtain Making and Soft Furnishings
Rosemary has been on the course since October this year and is already over halfway through. She joined the course as resettlement training as she is due to leave the Royal Air Force soon.
Rosemary explains why she chose NDA: “Prior to joining the RAF 22 years ago I worked as an assistant designer in the knitwear industry, so I have some experience with the textile industry, albeit from a long time ago. I have always enjoyed sewing and making curtains for my own home and for friends, and my goal is to be able to work from home offering a curtain making and curtain alteration service. I am hoping that this course will provide me with the skills to produce curtains with a professional finish and expand my techniques base.”
Rosemary’s tutor, Ann Hoare, explains why she chose her for student of the month: “Her work is consistently very good, and she is working very quickly so her quality control is excellent. She really has a flair for creating soft furnishings and curtains, and I am sure she will do well with her business.”
