Audio-visual and home automation installation specialist RS AV Solutions hosted an exclusive 3-day event to launch the Meridian โ€œAudio Secretsโ€ guide for interior designers.ย  The guide has been created to build knowledge and awareness around key aspects of specifying the right sound system including โ€œWhat affects good sound?โ€ The guide also provides advice for those interior designers whose clients demand an extremely high-end audio-visual system but who also want the system to fit within their interior design scheme.
Allen Boothroyd, co-founder of Meridian, personally launched the guide in addition to showcasing some of Meridianโ€™s iconic innovations, including the Lecson Audio system which was selected in 1976 for the New York Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) permanent collection.
NDA Director of Studies, Anthony Rayworth, said: “We are delighted to have Meridian and RS AV Solutions as industry partners, particularly when our students are provided with such rare opportunities to listen to industry greats, such as Allen Boothroyd, explain their product history and design philosophy.”
The event was aimed at the design community to tie in with the 2012 London Design Festival, of which RS AV Solutions are a partner, and included a Q&A session with Allen, who is the only designer to have won 3 British Design Council Awards.

โ€œIt was great to hold an event which showcased the British, award winning brand โ€“ Meridian – and demonstrated how design has evolved from the 1970โ€™sโ€ said Rob Sullivan, Owner of RS AV Solutions.ย  โ€œWe were really pleased to see a wide range of people come to our showroom and it gave us the ability to demonstrate great looking and performing systems within a relaxed, lifestyle environment.โ€ Rob added.
โ€œThe Meridian timeline area was a great hit and the opportunity to compare developments in sound technology from the 1970s to the present, as well as the chance to hear the ‘M1’, Meridianโ€™s first active loudspeaker for the home, was hugely successful. The ultra-high-end Anniversary System was also on display which attracted lots of attention!โ€
Those NDA students all acknowledged that they had received privileged access to one of the great minds in audio design and technology as well as acquiring a deeper understanding of the integration of audio-visual systems within the interior.
As one NDA student said over a glass of Buckโ€™s Fizz, โ€œThe information we got today by listening and talking to Allen, as well as experiencing the systems for ourselves,ย  is equal to weeks, if not months, of studyโ€.
