The National Design Academy held its first industry partner seminar at the Muralto showroom in Londonโs Mayfair in last week and it proved to be a fantastically successful evening!
Over 50 NDA distance learning students attended and listened to a presentation on a Phenomenology from Anthony, NDAโs Director of Studies followed by a very useful session from John Buckland, owner of Muralto UK, on the challenges of working in the industry and how to work with suppliers.

Rob Sullivan from RS AV Solutions, another industry partner to NDA, rounded off the evening by talking about the problems audio visual installers have if they are not involved in planning from the outset.

It was a great opportunity for students to meet up and view a broad range of bespoke furniture. Jane and John were superb hosts making everyone welcome and the students found it really useful to meet other students and exchange email addresses and ask lot of questions about their studies!
One student commented on returning home “Please send a big thank you to Helen and Anthony for an amazing time last night at Muralto’s – Anthony’s talk was really helpful and informative. The wine was good as well, I sort of drifted through the tube stations and somehow found my way to the right station. It was great to mingle with other students and talk about the panic in the last two weeks of every module (I’m really glad it’s not just me!!?) Our hosts were very friendly and approachable and John and Rob’s talks were extremely helpful as well, which made the evening fun and very relaxing.”
Many were very keen to know when the next industry partner seminar would be and as a result of this success NDA propose to offer further seminars next year – Watch this space!
All courses were well represented from Diploma to BA and many students had travelled long distances to attend.
