March Mattoboard Challenge Winners Bring Ralph Lauren Home to Life

This March, we embraced the world of timeless sophistication with our latest Mattoboard Challenge. Taking inspiration from Ralph Lauren Home, a brand renowned for its rich heritage, luxurious materials, and signature design aesthetic, participants were tasked with creating a stunning material board for a high-end open-plan living space. The challenge was to capture the essence of Ralph Lauren Home’s elegance and refinement through layered textures, rich colour palettes, and a seamless blend of classic and contemporary elements.

Now, let’s celebrate our talented winners! 🎉

🥇 1st Place: Esmée Lewis - Coastal Nautical Elegance

Coastal Nautical Elegance

Esmée‘s winning mood board beautifully embodies the refined coastal elegance synonymous with Ralph Lauren Home. Her expertly curated colour palette features deep navy, soft taupe, red, sand, and sky blue, creating a layered and serene foundation. Accents of deep red introduce a classic Americana touch, adding warmth and depth. Rich textures such as natural wood, soft upholstery, and a woven seagrass lampshade evoke an organic, coastal feel, balanced with luxurious brass finishes for added sophistication.

Key elements include a woven seagrass pendant, rope curtain details nodding to nautical heritage, and a coral sculpture for organic beauty. The centrepiece, a Polo Ralph Lauren print, ties the theme together, making this scheme a perfect blend of classic and contemporary.

Tutor’s Take:
There is real cohesion in the recognisable brand design elements which creates and informs this appealing interior scheme. Esmée has leaned into the coastal inspiration of the brand and proposed a fresh, welcoming, sophisticated yet timeless scheme which would be a great for a living and dining space.

Hina’s design blends classic elegance with modern sophistication. A deep blue velvet Chesterfield sofa serves as the statement piece, complemented by tan leather chairs for warmth and contrast. Calacatta marble flooring introduces subtle grey veining, enhancing the luxurious aesthetic. Gold and brass accents, walnut wood panelling, and equestrian-inspired details bring the signature Ralph Lauren touch to life.
